Mumbai meri jaan...

A few days back I read an article by a fellow colleague on the do's and don't s of mumbai local traveling... This got me more vigilant in observing my own emotions each time I took the journey!

A few really funny observations that I encountered hv made my everyday journey so much more eventful...

Each time I target to make it for a ladies special local, somewhere a calculation mistake happens... as u can't ever predict by how many mins will d train be delayed today.... n after it being late by more than a couple of mins, u would still miss it by on an average of 10secs... N mind u, d fault is not entirely urs.. Its equally if not more of d 100 people in front of u who walk as if walking in a garden.... they don't decipher a sweet excuse me... But a pointed umbrella does d trick in making way through these weirdo's...

U find all kinds of people in this 1 compartment of a local train... From a fisher woman who travels with utmost comfort as all people prefer keeping atleast 5 feet distance from getting d stench....

There is this group of maharashtrian working women who would buy gajra ( fragrant flowers put together in a stream like thing to pin up in d hair) and bargain even when it costs only rs 2 per string.....

Another mix set of women / girls sing the hindi version of happy bday for a fellow regular traveler and the bday girl distributes jalebi, samosa etc...

Now pls try and imagine.... in a train full of people where 4 ppl sit on a seat meant for 3 on each side... N Between 2 rows facing each other 3 to 4 people are standing in such a way that there is practically no leg space.... However what is inevitable is in d midst of all this thyere is a feast taking place.... :D

It is like an amusement park where from one end u hear old bollywood songs... D other u hear a hawker using his marketing skills to sell clips n bands.... N Another corner aunties quarreling purely as they had a bad start at home n wat better place than this to remove d frustration.....n d clatter goes on...

You decide to take ur place at d door enjoying ur preferred music with your ear phones and feeling the breeze.... N suddenly u take notice that another train that is moving parallel to u just got left behind... coz ur train happen to catch speed... there is this sudden proud feeling inside u that can't be described..... Hmm....

Noooo....It wasn't a race.... D train coincidentally came parallel to mine n my train again just happen to gather speed and move ahead of d other.. but guess its human nature u c....

... we mortals could get proud of anything....

Guess even at just d drop of a hat.... :p

Daily drama!

Every night before I fall asleep, I run through the various timelines of the chores I need to finish to be able to make it on time for work...

However when d alarm sets off, my mind only seems to remember all possible excuses to snooze it and convince myself that I deserve to sleep for only 5 more mins... Arghh!!

Dude Sometimes its easy to train your pet than your own mind :P

Anyways, then u get up in sweat when u realize to have overslept by half an hour... and all ur set timelines have gone to dogs... U rush in for quick shower, try on some 5 pair of clothes and eventually land up wearing a regular jeans + kurti... Sip ur tea n taking a bite of ur meal whilst doing umteen other things as, looking for cash change... applying ur kajol... clipping ur hair... Trying to find ur watch n all other god forsaken things...

Huh n now Jus when u think u r all set to leave, D next big deal awaits... At d door u spend a little more than a few mins trying out various footwear and eventually slip into ur usual chappals....n ur mom has the look of 'Roz ki kahani hain' types...

Finally then with a mouth half filled with morsels of food u say some gibberish to your folks and run down praying ' please god I hope I get a rick... Pls rick rick... Pls...' ... at d same time making a promise that tom u will pakka make it on time bas aaj train 2 mins late aani chahiye... :D

Looking back, d entire scene seems to be a black n white film in fast forward motion where the only active and movable character is U... U yourself are moving at such a fast pace that every one else though moving seems to be at a standstill...

Betchya can imagine this?

"The World of hunger"

Its not about just Greed!!! Its the unfortunate scenario where we refrain from understanding the meaning and purpose of the beautiful gift called LIFE...

This is a supper abstract topic but off lately there has been loads of realisation on how out of our various worlds that we create around ourselves and live in.. The world of hunger is a predominant one...

We are constantly seeking for a better job... A bigger house... a high end car... A hi tech phone... Money... Status... and d list goes on... A lot of us today strive for the best and in the race of making it big, loose the main purpose of life which is to be happy...

We fail to draw a line of our expectations and land up going overboard with everything!

Let's take for example...
1) A house -
Its ideally where we should look forward to going each night after a long days work... A place where we can relax and refresh ourselves for another fresh start... But its become more like a status symbol today... Fancy locality? How many bedrooms? Expensive interiors? ambience?

2) A job... is for most people their means of livelihood and for a lucky few same as their passion... But in the current scenario for every collegian its about how casually one can dress at work that determines if they take it up or no!!!

3) An MBA degree from a reputed college is necessary because its not what I want to do but because everybody else is doing it!!! We decide our college based on the package and placements they offer... N not by how much value would the course add to my personal growth as an individual in the span of 2 yrs!!

The entire world wants to grow and in this race of becoming a global economic power the core essence of human happiness is compromised! Strangely in schools however even today our textbooks read that the 3 basic necessities of a man are food, clothing and shelter!..

So are our other wants / desires an illusion of our greedy self? Or are they the a leading path towards our future happiness?

Some food for thought!

Women and mood swings!!! The connect!

Hmm... Ever wondered why do women just suddenly seem upset over nothing at all???? Well well its definitely not ur mistake, trust me... Ask ur lady the question 'why' and she herself wouldn't know the answer....

See its simple... Let me call it a scientific process!... and every man who has a girlfriend and has plans to live with his dream woman for life and get married and blah blah needs to understand this!

Every woman goes through a scientific change in her system at a certain time of the month and this affects her state of mind without her own knowledge... It gets her may be angry or irritated or snappy without reason! This usually happens a week before her monthly cycle...

Trust me its not rocket science to tackle this phase... Once u know her tendency, all you need to do is give a little more care and attention!

Statutory warning: Asking questions is a complete NO NO! She will realize her unreasonable behaviour and apologise herself... Just be that one person she can share this time with, without any inhibitions and you will figure your way around it :)

Good luck!

The good old times!!!.....

No am not aged 50 but at 21 also I feel as its been decades out of school... Met my childhood buddies.... Went on a cycle for tuitions...or for that Even Slept like a baby in my moms lap...

Today a generation gap is 3-5 yrs, unlike it was for us d the age difference between us and our parents..... We grew up in a joint family where grandparents instilled the traditional value systems and ensured our food was cooked in pure ghee...

However, today we have come to become the age of nuclear families, having our own space, privacy, protein diets and the attitude of 'work smart instead work hard'...

Phew!! Honestly I love d 'my life my space' attitude personally :)
The fact that we can call our generation the logical, rational n practical one is in itself a high...
Getting along with some1 10 yrs elder or 5 yrs younger is not difficult at all.....

So then what is missing?? Seems just perfect, isn't it?

Well... Hmmm... Nope its NOT...

D simplicity is missing... We all live under masked identities....

It has become difficult to believe anyone on face value... We can't help but look beyond and dissect what the other person is saying... The trust levels have gone down tremendously... All this is thanks to the cut throat competition and survival levels...

But in all this there is still a way to relive our good old times.... Let us raise a toast to ' Kingfisher - the king of good old times' ;)

Cheers! :)
